Un nuevo capítulo para la investigación en diseño en América Latina  

La Design Research Society (DRS) invita a líderes de investigación a ser parte de una nueva etapa de colaboración en América Latina. 

Fundada en el Reino Unido en 1966, la Design Research Society (DRS) es la sociedad más antigua del mundo dedicada a la investigación en diseño. Durante más de cinco décadas, ha desempeñado un papel fundamental en la configuración del pensamiento y la práctica de la investigación en diseño a nivel global, a través de conferencias, publicaciones y redes internacionales. Al entrar en su sexta década, la DRS continúa fortaleciendo su misión de conectar comunidades académicas en todo el mundo, abriendo ahora un nuevo capítulo en colaboración con instituciones líderes en América Latina. 

En este contexto, nos complace invitar a las instituciones a unirse al DRS Latin American Plan, una iniciativa orientada a ampliar el acceso y la participación de investigadores en diseño de la región dentro de la red global de la DRS. Este plan busca fortalecer las capacidades institucionales en investigación en diseño, fomentar la colaboración internacional y promover una mayor presencia de América Latina en la comunidad DRS. 

Como parte de esta iniciativa, las instituciones que se sumen al DRS Latin American Plan serán invitadas a participar en DRS Conecta: Santiago 2026, un encuentro de bienvenida para nuevos miembros de la DRS que reunirá a líderes de investigación en diseño de toda la región. Este evento representa una oportunidad única para conectar instituciones, compartir áreas de investigación y fomentar futuras colaboraciones, contribuyendo activamente al desarrollo de una red latinoamericana sólida y articulada dentro del ecosistema global de la DRS. 

A new chapter for design research in Latin America   

The Design Research Society (DRS) invites research leaders to be part of a new phase of collaboration in Latin America. 

Founded in the United Kingdom in 1966, the Design Research Society (DRS) is the longest-established society in the world dedicated to design research. For more than five decades, it has played a fundamental role in shaping the thinking and practice of design research globally through conferences, publications, and international networks. As we enter our sixth decade, DRS continues to strengthen its mission of connecting academic communities worldwide, now opening a new chapter in collaboration with leading institutions across Latin America. 

In this context, we are pleased to invite institutions to join the DRS Latin American Plan, an initiative aimed at expanding access and participation for design researchers in the region within the global DRS network. This plan seeks to strengthen institutional capacities in design research, foster international collaboration, and promote a stronger presence of Latin America within the DRS community. 

As part of this initiative, institutions that join the DRS Latin American Plan will be invited to participate in DRS Connects: Santiago 2026, a welcome gathering for new DRS members that will bring together design research leaders from across the region. This event represents a unique opportunity to connect institutions, share research areas, and foster future collaborations, actively contributing to the development of a strong and articulated Latin American network within the global DRS ecosystem.
