1. ¿Qué es DRS Connects: Santiago 2026? 

DRS Connects: Santiago 2026 es un foro inaugural de dos días organizado por la Design Research Society (DRS). Reúne a líderes e instituciones de investigación en diseño de toda América Latina que se suscriben al DRS Latin American Plan. El evento tiene como objetivo fortalecer las conexiones regionales, visibilizar las capacidades de investigación y fomentar la colaboración entre América Latina y la red global de la DRS. 

2. ¿Cuándo y dónde se realizará el evento? 

DRS Connects: Santiago 2026 se realizará los días 25 y 26 de agosto de 2026 en la Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago de Chile. 

3. ¿Quiénes están invitados a participar? 

El evento está dirigido a líderes de investigación en diseño, universidades y representantes institucionales de toda América Latina interesados en vincularse con la DRS y contribuir al futuro de la investigación en diseño en la región y a nivel global. 

4. ¿Qué es el Plan Latinoamericano? 

El Plan Latinoamericano es una nueva modalidad de membresía de la DRS orientada a promover el acceso de los investigadores en diseño de la región. Permite que cada universidad participante otorgue membresía DRS a sus académicos/as y/o estudiantes.

5. ¿Qué beneficios incluye la membresía DRS asociada al plan? 

Los beneficios incluyen: 

• Acceso gratuito o con descuento a eventos de la DRS  

• Participación en Special Interest Groups (SIGs)  

• Acceso online gratuito a la revista Designing  

• Oportunidades de liderazgo global, incluyendo el International Advisory Council  

6. ¿Cuánto cuesta participar en DRS Connects: Santiago 2026? 

Las instituciones que se suscriban al Plan Latinoamericano podrán enviar un/a delegado/a sin costo adicional para participar presencialmente en el evento. La participación de un segundo delegado o delegada de la misma institución tendrá un costo adicional de 150 GBP. 

7. ¿Qué incluye la participación presencial? 

Para un/a delegado/a por institución, la participación incluye asistencia presencial al evento, además de coffee breaks y almuerzos sin costo adicional. 

8. ¿Cómo será el programa del evento? 

DRS Connects está concebido como un encuentro de dos días: 

• Día 1: presentaciones de los/as delegados/as  

• Día 2: talleres orientados a explorar oportunidades de colaboración en América Latina y en el contexto de la red global de la DRS  

Se pondrá a disposición un programa preliminar para descarga, y la versión final será enviada una vez finalizado el proceso de inscripción y confirmadas las instituciones participantes. 

9. ¿Cuáles son las fechas clave para la inscripción y participación? 

La cuota anual del DRS Latin American Plan puede pagarse en cualquier momento del año. Sin embargo, para participar en DRS Connects: Santiago 2026, el pago debe completarse de acuerdo con el siguiente calendario: 

• Fecha límite de pago estándar: 30 de junio de 2026

11. ¿Este evento es solo para miembros de la DRS? 

El evento está especialmente orientado a instituciones que se vinculen al nuevo Plan Latinoamericano. Por lo tanto, la participación está estrechamente asociada a esta modalidad de membresía institucional, aunque las universidades interesadas pueden contactar a la organización para obtener más información.

1. What is DRS Connects: Santiago 2026? 

DRS Connects: Santiago 2026 is an inaugural two-day forum organized by the Design Research Society (DRS). It brings together design research leaders and institutions from across Latin America that subscribe to the DRS Latin American Plan. The event aims to strengthen regional connections, showcase research capabilities, and foster collaboration between Latin America and the wider DRS network. 

2. When and where will the event take place? 

DRS Connects: Santiago 2026 will take place on 25 and 26 August 2026 at Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago, Chile. 

3. Who is invited to participate? 

The event is aimed at design research leaders, universities, and institutional representatives from across Latin America who are interested in engaging with the DRS and contributing to the future of design research in the region and beyond. 

4. What is the Latin American Plan? 

The Latin American Plan is a new DRS membership scheme designed to improve access for researchers in the region. It allows each participating university to grant DRS membership to faculty members and/or students.

Benefits include: 

• Free or discounted access to DRS events  

• Participation in Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

6. How much does it cost to participate in DRS Connects: Santiago 2026? 

Institutions subscribing to the Latin American Plan may send one delegate at no additional cost to attend the event in person. A second delegate from the same institution may attend for an additional fee of 150 GBP. 

7. What is included in the in-person participation? 

For one delegate per institution, participation includes in-person attendance at the event, as well as coffee breaks and lunches at no additional cost. 

8. What will the event programme look like? 

DRS Connects is conceived as a two-day event: 

• Day 1: presentations by delegates.  

• Day 2: workshops focused on exploring collaboration opportunities in Latin America and within the broader DRS network. 

A preliminary programme will be made available for download, and the final version will be shared once the registration process has closed and participating institutions have been confirmed. 

9. What are the key dates for registration and participation? 

The annual fee for the DRS Latin American Plan may be paid at any time during the year. However, to participate in DRS Connects: Santiago 2026, payment must be completed according to the following schedule:
